Adnan studied telecommunications and information technologies and has been in the software industry for over 17 years now.

Before he started his career as a developer, he was a professional soccer player. Now he is a passionate runner, bike and snowboard lover and a father of two beautiful girls.

Happy, Healthy Programmer

We aim to drive your attention to health challenges which comes along with being a programmer.

Challenges are happening in three important areas of a lifestyle:

  • physical activity (highly impacted by sitting).
  • nutrition (unorganized schedule).
  • sleep (unorganized schedule, long screen time).

This is the topic that has been addressed in many ways and many times. There are a lot of general recommendations but only a few succeeded into a dedicated programmer’s life who enjoys spending 12+ hours a day in coding, exploring, learning, etc.

Adnan is very passionate about healthy life and has spent a lot of time researching the best ways to easily and successfully incorporate healthy habits to a busy programmer’s schedule.

From his own experience he will explain how it is possible to become and remain healthy without major changes in a daily routine, without going to gym or running long kilometers.

Adnan will give advices on activities which can be performed while sitting and taking a quick break that will neutralize consequences of sitting without losing focus. He will even show couple of props which can be held by a table that are motivating movement (tennis balls, balance boards, standing desks, etc.).

Adnan will be talking about importance of sleeping and will describe scientifically explored brain activities which are taking place while sleeping and how lack of these activities is directly impacting health and performance.

The session will include just a little bit of chemistry in muscles to make the point about how an organism sees nutrition. We will also include advices on how to balance and adjust nutrition to a programmer’s life and how to come up with the best diet for an individual.

We will support our talk with scientific experiments which are many (experiment with students engaged in sports and their performance, great mathematician who has “walked” a solution to a 300-year-old math problem, a Nobel prize winner for discovering a protein which is product of movement but highly stimulates brains, etc.)

As an example, we will mention companies which have made a great overall improvement by investing in their employee’s heath (J&J, Adobe, etc.). Along these lines we will say that AP has recognized this a long time ago and is a company which encourages healthy lifestyle and takes a lot of actions in regards with it. We will also make a strong point here that being healthy is an individual decision and dedication, and that it is important to stay motivated (and advices on hot to) and try to motivate other people.

Finally, we list literature from which the session has been inspired and practiced (books, podcasts, youtube channels, etc). Adnan will talked about his own experience- how he managed to reduce weight, lower the blood pressure, regulate cholesterol, and improve concentration and performance. He started very slowly but was inspired to progress and managed to run several full marathons.

RSVP early to save your seat. Two days before the event, you will receive the MS Teams link for joining the Meetup. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of our online community and engage in discussions and networking with peers.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
