Cross-Functional Teams

Introduction

In the Authority Partners podcast, we host Adnan Ahmethodzic, Software Architect at Authority Partners for a lively discussion on cross-functional teams.

In the recent past, we’ve been introducing the concept of cross-functional teams where ideas of Development, Quality Assurance, Test Automation, DevOps, and Database Administration individual roles have been progressed to the level of the type of work that needs to be done regardless of the individual that will be performing it.

With individuals moved to the rank of engineers as all-around experts, we’re left with specialists in the team (the same way we have SME – Subject Matter Expert) who are dedicated to keeping their line of work with the highest possible quality. Not only does this align with DevOps strategy goals, but it also improves the trust and collaboration inside the teams where common vision and goals are communicated early and agreed upon by all team members, while also expanding overall knowledge and expertise in the whole domain of IT consulting business.
