Can you walk us through a day in the life of Yavuz Selim Yilmaz at Authority Partners?

My typical day involves coding, collaborating with the team, and staying updated with industry trends. I start by reviewing emails, work on coding tasks. 

Share a moment when you felt your expertise truly made a difference in a project’s success.

I had a significant impact on a project’s success as a software developer. In a financial management system project with tight deadlines, I used my expertise in performance optimization to identify and resolve bottlenecks. Through code optimizations and database query improvements, we achieved a substantial performance boost, meeting project goals and earning the client’s trust. 

We all encounter roadblocks in our professional journeys. Can you tell us about a time when you turned a challenge into an opportunity? 

Once, I took on a temporary role as a Product Manager due to my domain expertise. Initially challenging, it provided a unique opportunity to broaden my perspective and work closely with cross-functional teams. I immersed myself in the role, gathering user feedback and defining the product roadmap, which improved coordination and decision-making. 

This experience enriched my skill set and deepened my understanding of the product lifecycle. It demonstrated how embracing unexpected challenges can lead to personal and professional growth. 

In a rapidly evolving industry, what innovative approach or tool are you most excited about using in your work?

In our fast-paced industry, I’m particularly excited about the potential of leveraging AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot. These innovations have the capacity to streamline development processes, enhance code quality, and boost productivity, aligning perfectly with the demands of our rapidly evolving field.

What’s your favorite benefit of working with Authority Partners, and how has it positively impacted your career? 

The mentorship program at Authority Partners is my favorite benefit. It has provided me with invaluable guidance and accelerated my career growth. 

If you could collaborate on a dream project with anyone, alive or historical, who would it be and why? 

If I could collaborate on a dream project with anyone, alive or historical, it would be with legendary basketball coach Zeljko Obradovic and a renowned basketball analyst. Obradovic’s coaching expertise has led to numerous championships, and I admire his strategic approach. Collaborating with him and a skilled basketball analyst would allow us to delve deep into the intricacies of basketball strategy, player development, and data-driven insights. It would be a unique opportunity to combine on-court expertise with advanced analytics, ultimately revolutionizing the way basketball is played and analyzed. 

Beyond your professional accomplishments, what’s one thing that keeps your passion alive and well outside of work? 

Outside of work, my passion for sports, including basketball and football, keeps me engaged. I particularly enjoy following Euroleague basketball. Additionally, I’m deeply interested in sports analytics, which allows me to combine my love for sports with data-driven insights and strategies.
